In order to also take account of the future quality requirements of our customers, we are already making preparations today for tomorrow. In 2007, we are planning to become certified to ISO/TS16949 as well as gain ISO 17025-compliant accreditation for our laboratory.
ISO/TS16949 unifies the current global requirements of the automotive industry concerning quality management systems into a single entity. These requirements encompass the VDA 6.1 (Germany), QS-9000 (North America), EAQF (France) and AVSQ (Italy) guidelines. The standards and guidelines of ISO/TS16949 have been tailored specifically to the requirements of the automotive industry. The objective being to simplify the certification process of suppliers for global players.
By becoming certified to ISO/TS 16949 we will automatically comply with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and satisfy the fundamental expectations of the automotive industry, with the objective of fulfilling customer requirements right through to the end user.
The requirements of the new ISO/TS 16949 include, amongst other things, strategic business planning, the further development of the improvement process, a stable process capability, a diminution of variance and the economic utilisation of resources in the supply chain and the optimisation of the value-addition chain.
DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard for the accreditation of test laboratories. This standard provides a standard worldwide basis to verify the technical and professional expertise of testing and calibration laboratories. The use of ISO 17025 is intended to support the operators of such laboratories develop their administrative and technical systems, which in turn will assure the quality of their work results and provide a proof of competence to third parties. ISO 17025 accreditation provides the laboratory operator with a competence certification that enjoys the maximum possible national and international recognition.
